Physiotherapy

A physiotherapist plays a vital role as an integral member of the rehabilitation team, offering comprehensive assessments and treatments for a wide range of conditions affecting the neurological, cardiorespiratory, and musculoskeletal systems. At Active Rehab Centre, our dedicated physiotherapists utilize a variety of techniques to promote healing and facilitate a safe and swift return to pre-injury or pre-conditioned state. Using their expert knowledge and skills, our physiotherapists employ hands-on manual techniques to address specific areas of concern and alleviate pain. These techniques not only provide immediate relief but also help restore optimal function and mobility.

Active exercise rehabilitation forms a crucial component of physiotherapy. Through targeted exercises and personalized rehabilitation programs, our physiotherapists help individuals regain strength, flexibility, and coordination. These active interventions are tailored to address the unique needs of each patient, facilitating a comprehensive recovery process.

Bio mechanical retraining is another valuable aspect of physiotherapy. By addressing movement patterns, posture, and alignment, our physiotherapists optimize body mechanics, reducing the risk of further injuries and promoting efficient movement patterns for everyday activities. In addition to manual techniques and exercise programs, our physiotherapists may incorporate thermal and electrical modalities to enhance the healing process. These modalities, such as heat therapy or electrical stimulation, can provide pain relief, reduce inflammation, and facilitate tissue repair.

At Active Rehab Centre, our physiotherapists take a holistic approach to care, considering the individual's unique circumstances and goals. By combining their expertise with a compassionate and patient-centered approach, they empower individuals to actively participate in their recovery journey.

We understand the importance of a timely and safe return to optimal health. Our dedicated physiotherapists are committed to providing the highest standard of care, facilitating a comprehensive rehabilitation process that promotes a swift recovery and a return to a pre-injury or pre-conditioned state.

What to Expect?

You should wear loose fitting clothing so you can expose the area that we will be evaluating and treating. For example, if you have a knee problem, it is best to wear shorts. For a shoulder problem, a tank top is a good choice, and for low back problems, wear a loose fitting shirt and pants, again so we can perform a thorough examination.

You will find that Physiotherapy typically offers an immediate level of pain relief, but this does depend on your injury. Your physiotherapist will let you know if you can expect to feel more sore after your first appointment compared to when you arrived.

Our patients can expect to improve their balance, their endurance, their strength and their coordination, which will help them stay active every day.

Frequency of Treatment

In general, most patients attend physical therapy 2-3 times a week on non-consecutive days. Length or duration of care is dependent on many variables including patient age, diagnosis, fitness level, severity of injury, and more. On average, patients are seen in therapy for 3-6 weeks.

If you are unsure of the most appropriate frequency and duration, the physical therapist can make a recommendation based on their evaluation findings.
