Chiropractic Care

Welcome to Active Rehab Centre, where we celebrate the remarkable benefits of this primary healthcare profession. Chiropractic is a specialized field dedicated to the treatment of biomechanical disorders of the spinal column, with the goal of restoring optimal function and unlocking the body's innate healing capabilities. Biomechanical disorders encompass a broad spectrum of injuries that involve joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. These conditions often intertwine with nerve function and pain, giving rise to what is known as neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. Chiropractors possess extensive training and expertise in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and preventing disorders that affect the spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system.

Through precise adjustments and manipulations, chiropractors seek to enhance joint mobility, alleviate pain, and improve nerve function. By restoring the body's natural alignment, chiropractic care helps to optimize physical function, promote healing, and enhance the body's ability to adapt and thrive.

At Active Rehab Centre, our chiropractors are at the forefront of their profession. They utilize their knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills to facilitate the restoration of spinal health and overall well-being. Our licensed chiropractors utilize various therapeutic techniques to effectively reduce pain, muscle spasms, and restore joint movement. These techniques include:

  • This method utilizes low-level electrical currents to stimulate muscles, reduce pain, and promote healing.

  • By utilizing sound waves, ultrasound therapy penetrates deep into tissues, promoting blood flow, reducing inflammation, and accelerating the healing process.

  • Alternating between cold and hot treatments can effectively alleviate pain, reduce swelling, and promote tissue healing and relaxation.

  • This technique involves applying direct pressure to specific trigger points in muscles to alleviate pain and release tension.

  • Through gentle, controlled movements, joint mobilizations aim to improve joint function, increase range of motion, and reduce pain.

  • This hands-on approach targets specific muscles to release tension, enhance flexibility, and improve overall muscle function.

  • By strategically inserting thin needles at specific points, acupuncture stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms, reduces pain, and restores balance.

  • This specialized form of therapy utilizes instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization to address scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial restrictions, promoting improved function and mobility.

Our chiropractors not only provide hands-on treatments but also offer valuable advice on proper posture, ergonomics, and lifestyle modifications. They will guide you in adopting healthy habits, recommend stretching and strengthening exercises, and prescribe rehabilitation protocols tailored to your specific condition. What to Expect?

After your first session, if you are like most people, you will feel more relaxed and less concerned. Many people find they breathe more fully. Some patients continue to move and stretch in various ways to release any tension they may be holding. Occasionally a feeling of “letting go” may occur, allowing you to unwind chronic tension patterns. Over several sessions you will likely feel more relaxed.

You may feel some slight discomfort or fatigue after your visit, but it should resolve quickly. The likelihood of initial soreness or increased pain after a chiropractic adjustment has been found to be similar to that of starting an exercise program.

Frequency of Treatment

Chiropractic care is not a one-size-fits all approach. A consultation and evaluation with your chiropractor will help determine how often you need to be treated to heal a specific condition, as well as the benefits of maintenance care to prevent new ones from occurring in the future.

If you are suffering from a severe injury or chronic spine and joint pain, our chiropractor may initially recommend up to three visits per week and then wean from there. If you are experiencing only minor aches and pains, one visit per week may be enough to help you regain your strength and mobility. Still, many people see a chiropractor for health maintenance, which could include one weekly, bi-weekly or monthly visit.
