Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention that encompasses a variety of soft tissue techniques, targeting the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems. The purpose of massage therapy extends beyond relaxation—it aims to maintain function, reduce muscle tension, prevent or alleviate pain caused by injury or overuse, and address chronic pain syndromes. With benefits that span across age groups and the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions, massage therapy holds immense potential for enhancing your overall well-being.
In acute conditions, a series of massage therapy sessions can lead to significant improvements. By addressing the root causes of discomfort and working towards restoring balance, massage therapy can accelerate the healing process and provide lasting relief. Following this initial treatment phase, ongoing maintenance or preventive treatments can help sustain the benefits achieved, promoting overall health and well-being.
At Active Rehab Centre, our skilled massage therapists utilize their expertise to tailor each session to your specific needs and goals. Through a series of treatments, we can effectively address acute conditions, providing the relief and healing necessary for recovery. Following this acute phase, maintenance or preventive treatments can be employed to optimize your overall wellness.

Massage therapy goes beyond simply providing relaxation—it has a profound impact on the functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems. This holistic approach to healing may enhance the body's ability to recover from injury and illness.
Keep in mind that the benefits of massage therapy extend far beyond physical healing. In our fast-paced world, stress and tension take their toll on our overall well-being. Therapeutic massage provides a sanctuary for relaxation and stress reduction, offering a much-needed respite from the demands of daily life. By alleviating stress, massage therapy contributes to mental and emotional well-being, promoting a sense of calm and tranquility.
Moreover, the power of touch in massage therapy has a profound impact on our nervous system. It triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain-relieving and mood-boosting chemicals. This can result in a heightened sense of relaxation and an overall improvement in our mental state.
As an integral part of our comprehensive healthcare approach, massage therapy at Active Rehab Centre can be tailored to meet your specific needs and preferences. Our skilled therapists create a serene environment where you can unwind and experience the transformative benefits of therapeutic touch.

What to Expect?
Most people report feeling very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity, which can last for days.
Some discomfort is normal after massage. An Epsom salt bath following a massage will help to ease muscle pain and increase circulation to aid healing. Magnesium, a natural stress reliever, is increased allowing toxins and heavy metals to be flushed from the body. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
Generally, massage therapists promote the use of heat to maintain tissue health. A good way to incorporate this is to use heat for 15-20 minutes a night just before going to bed. If there is inflammation, swelling or an acute injury than ice is warranted. It is best to seek professional advice, if you are in doubt.
Frequency of Treatment
Getting a massage can do you a world of good. And getting massage frequently can do even more. This is the beauty of bodywork. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you’ll be and how youthful you’ll remain with each passing year. Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health. And remember: just because massage feels like a pampering treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan, and work with your practitioner to establish a treatment schedule that best meets your needs.
Appointments can be made without a referral. Services are generally covered through private extended health care plans (a physician's referral may be required). Motor vehicle insurance covers massage treatments although prior approval is necessary.
